A Huntington man was arrested for third offense domestic in the 500 block of W. 23rd Street following an argument with his girlfriend on Saturday, Aug. 30. Joe Carico, 56, was arrested for the incident that reportedly occurred around 9:30 p.m.

At first glance, you may not notice anything different about Apple’s latest line of MacBook Pros, introduced in April 2010. The new models, which feature 13-, 15- and 17-inch screens, sport the same sleek, minimalist design, the same keyboard, and the same touch pad as the previous iteration. Even the ports haven’t changed.

The Inspiron 1525 improves on its predecessor, the popular Inspiron 1520, in almost every way. It shaves off a few ounces and inches, adds 441611-001 worthwhile new features, and puts more power under the hood, all while keeping the price below $1,000.

Gateway has updated its FX gaming notebook lineup with Intel's newest high-performance Centrino 2 mobile chipset, and the 441425-001 result is the $1,399 P-7811FX, which delivers superb performance for the money. (It's currently available only at Best Buy.)

Despite its general excellence, it's still a midrange model that can't compete with higher-priced notebooks, but it's the HP Pavilion DV6000 battery fastest notebook we've tested at this price range. Its biggest fault is its noisy cooling fans, which frequently spin up for no reason whatsoever.

Now that it's safe to commit to a notebook with a built-in high-definition optical drive, Sony's VAIO VGN-FZ485U/B is certainly a front-runner. Featuring a Blu-ray drive that both plays and burns DVDs and Blu-ray Discs (beware of less-expensive laptops that just play high-definition titles), the VGN-FZ485U/B also delivers potent multimedia performance and sports a stunning 15.4-inch screen.

The Lenovo ThinkPad R61 represents just about everything a business thin-and-light notebook should be, with its comfortable, durable design, cutting-edge wireless HP Pavilion DV6600 battery connectivity, and top-notch application performance driven by Intel's Santa Rosa mobile platform. Poor battery life kept it from earning higher marks, however.

Fujitsu has engineered some marvelous notebooks over the years (most recently, the Editors' Choice-winning LifeBook S6510, but the V1010 isn't one of them. Though attractively priced at $899, the V1010 comes up short compared with other budget models.

HP must be serious about bringing tablet-PC functionality to the masses: Less than a year after introducing the consumer-oriented HP Pavilion TX1000 convertible tablet, the company has followed up with the improved Pavilion TX2000z.
